VISION AND MISSION OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRY AT MPCHURCH
It is important to understand the VISION and MISSION of the Children’s Ministry at Message of Peace.
Vision speaks of what we want to accomplish. Mission speaks of how we will accomplish.
OUR VISION IS: TO TEACH CHILDREN TO SERVE GOD FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES
Pay attention to each word used in the statement. They are all important.
1. TO TEACH
This is what we do. To teach is to instruct, to enable, to direct, and to give information and applications.
2. CHILDREN
This is our focus and ministry. We teach children not adults.
3. TO SERVE GOD
Everything we do in class, every activity and lesson plan is to cause the children to serve God, to live for Him.
4. FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES
We want to impact them for a lifetime. They will become teens and later adults. If we do a good job, we will help them to live for God for life.
OUR MISSION IS
MPChurch Children’s Ministries exists to: Teach children biblical truths so they will worship God, have fellowship with other children, and serve others.
Since the vision is for the children to serve God for the rest of their lives, how do we accomplish that?
1. WE TEACH THEM BIBLICAL TRUTHS
God has called us to teach the Bible to children. We don’t use any other material outside of the Bible. On Easter we don’t use the Easter Bunny, on Christmas, we don’t use Santa Claus. We love Disney characters but we don’t use them either. We only teach from the Bible.
2. WE TEACH THEM TO WORSHIP GOD
Our role is to teach children that worship is valuing God in everything. Worship is more than singing or lifting up hands. Worship is honoring God. It is a lifestyle.
3. WE TEACH THEM TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP
Relationships are important in every stage of life. We understand that it is through showing the love of God to people is how they will know God. We teach children to relate to each other in church and outside of the church.
4. WE TEACH THEM TO SERVE OTHER
Children can be selfish and self-centered. If they don’t learn at a young age, they will be selfish throughout their lives. We teach them to serve others, give to the mission, and help people as part of God’s plan for our lives.
